draft angle, taper angle from edges and blend

taper angle is one basic editing feature that must have to know, why because like designer CAD in mold, die casting, and various CAD design machine always using some taper in their product of course with their various each reason to do that.

so.. let's begin learning more about make some taper.
there are 4 concept to make taper in Unigraphics NX5 by using edges, from plane, tangent to face and to parting edge.
now we begin from number one using edges

to begin taper operation click draft icon in Unigraphics NX5 like picture below


after that taper dialogue box will appear, like picture below






























make sure you choose from edges and fill the angel do you want, from this step
1. click the face as the datum reference.
2. click the edge that become stationary point.
3. click Apply button or OK

Edit blend radius via editing parameter

after we make blend operation, some times we need to change the radius of the blend that we have done, before we remove all parameter in that part we can use editing parameter to edit radius value.

Begin editing parameter
1. look at your part, to begin with editing parameter is click the blend then right click your mouse, or over your mouse until the face highlighted then right click on your mouse. (look at picture below )


2. choose edit parameter, we can edit thee value in two way, from flowing text box and edit parameter window, edit the value then click ok


3. the diameter will change

Edge Blend Operation In UG

blend is operation that make edge with radius, for modeling operation it will use very often. look at picture below, we will make some edge blend operation at the edge



to begin blend operation click edge blend icon, for menu click insert, detail feature and choose edge blend (see piture below)


after click the edge blend icon, at the edge blend window fill the radius that you want, for example i fill with 1.


then click the edge that you want, click apply, if you finish the operation click OK, or you can continue by fill other blend radius, then click other edge.
