Change folder first time load for save or open file

To define how and where NX load part file, we need to configure some basic function like, save, open and assembly.
Dialog box will appear, like the below picture, from the dialog box here we can set up load the file first time as may be required, it is easier for us in working with Unigraphic later.

 

1. Part version
You can set whether each time to load a new file or open a file starting from the folder, or history. UGS default is the folder.

2. scope
You can choose all the components directly on the load time, or just based on the stored data, or other options, are generally used are all components (including part assembly).

3. Save Load option
Save to file, serve to redirect the folder to load the first time, after the set, every time you open a new file, the folder will be automatically redirected to it.
So is the open from the file, after we set the folder, each time it opens the file it will automatically be redirected to a folder that was set.

setting environment of Unigraphics NX 5, background and line width

default setting in UGS NX 5 and previous UGS the line thickness of part is always width, this view is doesn't good when we design a lot of part, because it'll difficult to find touching line between face and face.
so some designer product that using UGS always like the thickness or line part is thin, because it more comfortable in our eyes.
to change the width of line product step are
1. goto preferences
2. visualization
3. go to tab line
4. remove check on the width check box
5. click apply
6. click cancel

setting Unigraphic Environment, Display and Object

the video tutorial below explain setting the environment display, object and background, some setting is to improve speed of rendering graphics,
to speed up rendering graphics
1. change the background environment with plain color
2. minimum the light (off setting for two side light)
3. disable translucency
4. change the line with thin line.
5. use wire view is more faster then shaded view




from picture above we can edit visualization by clicking preferences then Visualization and we can also change the performance of rendering by setting some parameter in Visualization Performance, One step below the visualization

Modeling Environment Window

Picture below shown modeling window after we make new file for modeling,


Tab menu
same with first time environment after open UGS NX5, the differences in the modeling window tab menu have more submenu. like assembly navigator, part navigator, and process studio.


part navigator use to navigate the part that we made in the modeling window, just click the plus mark to breakdown the part navigator, at the part model history we can see what we was made, and what we was do for those part, like blend, subtract, extrude, chamfer etc.

Unigraphics NX 5 first time environment

Picture below shown first time environment after we click icon to begin work in Unigraphics NX 5


Drop Drown menu
with this menu under filw we can make new file, open file, close part and selected part, setting the utilities, open recent document and exit from UG NX5, under tools we can make update, reuse library, and other. under preferences we can change setting the environment of UGS NX5 like color, journal, macro, visualization and others.

Tips if you don't understand the function of submenu just hold your selection about 1.5 second. then popup explanation will come out.

it contain three parts
1. IE browser, default we will open ugs.com (see picture below)

2. History
from this tabmenu we can open some file that we was made in few days ago

this menu used for manufacture or industrial purpose
